Blog #3: Crash as a Round Character

In class, we learned about how "Round" characters are realistically depicted. They have depth and various sides and aspects to their personality. These dimensions are often influenced through the "backstory" that the author creates for them and through the way other characters feel about them.

Think about how the author, Jerry Spinelli, is developing Crash Coogan as a round character. What evidence from the text provides proof that Crash/John is round? What is realistic about him? What is his backstory? What are his conflicts? Emotions? Changing beliefs? Fears? What do other characters think about him (Ex. Jane Forbes)? Be sure to cite the text when developing your answer.
